Obama-Edwards crashes Twitter

My previous post noted how Obama’s popularity appears to have driven up interest in Twitter—indeed may be the main reason for resurgence of interest in Twitter.

Following the John Edwards endorsement, Twitter servers had trouble handling the load, according to a LAist article.

So the question is, will Twitter’s popularity outlast the Obama phenom? Does Twitter need Obama, or is there enough momentum now for Twitter to continue irrespective of his fate?

Sure, Twitter will outlast Obama. Some other phenom will come along to adopt it and we will see the cycle continue. Now, the more interesting question is whether Obama or his staff will continue to use Twitter to represent if elected.
